For backups over about 1 GB we recommend Chrome or Edge on a computer: they allow the largest local storage and the fastest folder access.
"Not enough storage"
The browser needs roughly the decrypted size of the backup — about 1.5× the file — plus room for the search index. Free some disk space, close other tabs that use a lot of storage, or move to Chrome / Edge on a computer.
Storage got wiped
Browsers may evict site data when disk space is low unless storage is marked persistent. WaChat asks for this on first import; you can check the state under Settings → Storage. Private / incognito windows never keep data.
Older browsers
WaChat Web needs a browser from 2023 or later. If you see "This browser can't run the importer", update it or switch to one of the browsers above.
