Transferring the backup to a computer
USB, Quick Share, AirDrop — or skip the computer and open WaChat Web on the phone.

WaChat Web runs anywhere, so you can pick whichever route is easiest.
Skip the computer
Open web.wachatplus.com in Chrome on the phone itself, tap Pick file and browse to Android/media/com.whatsapp/WhatsApp/Databases/msgstore.db.crypt15. Media works with single files. For very large backups a computer is faster.
USB cable
- Connect the phone and choose File transfer / Android Auto in the notification.
- On the computer, open the phone → Internal storage →
Android/media/com.whatsapp/WhatsApp/. - Copy the
Databasesfolder. CopyMediatoo if you want photos and voice notes. - In WaChat Web, pick the
.crypt15file and, optionally, add theWhatsAppfolder as the media folder.
Quick Share (Windows) or AirDrop (Mac)
Share msgstore.db.crypt15 from a file manager to the computer. Large media folders are faster over USB.
Cloud drives
You can also copy the file to any cloud drive and download it on the computer. The file is encrypted with your key, so this is safe — but never share the key itself.
